Elnathan was the person who came to mind when I read this quote:
"Not many sounds in life, and I include all urban and all rural sounds, exceed in interest a knock at the door." Charles Lamb 1775 - 1834Our tiny boy would agree with that, although lots of sounds interest him and "what is that sound" is a frequent question here. Mercy is also beginning to become excited when she hears a knock on the door.
Natey's memory verse was "Jesus said to them, "I am the way, the truth, and the life" John 14: 6. What a wonderful statement that is to be remembering from your earliest days. Isn't it the main thing we need to know? Natey keeps saying Exodus 20:12 all the time "Honour your father and your mother". Maybe it is just the right length for his age!
Mercy was absolutely delightful out on the veranda one day. I took her outside because she wouldn't stop crying inside, and she was happy straight away! Thank you God for sunshine and fresh air!
Mercy is not crawling but she has developed the skill of moving from lying position into sitting position.
Her photo shoot ended when she decided it was time to head for Mummy's interesting camera!
From garden to tummies . . .
Lettuce for hamburgers and sandwiches. It was fun this week to begin teaching Elnathan the names of herbs.
A book we enjoyed together was "A Hole in the Road" by Philip Ardagh.
This is the perfect book for a tiny boy who loves machines, and it has been a frequent request this week.
Encouragement, ideas and inspiration came from "The Daily Light", a devotional that provides a collection of Scriptures on a topic for each morning and evening. It is a lovely way to simply digest scripture in a topical way. I was given a copy on a trip to see friends in Texas in 2003, and we have returned to it after a few years for our daily devotions. Previously we were reading through books of the Bible.
We are thankful for the fact that we are loved, and we have children who run to greet us and laugh and are happy to see us.
Isonto is a Zulu word for both week and Sunday, so Dave suggested it as the title of this little update I plan (God willing) to put out each Sunday.
