Praise Baby

When Mercy Joy was born our pastor and his wife gave us a Praise Baby DVD. We quickly decided that this DVD was one of the best in our collection! We don't have TV, but we do give Elnathan about one hour of DVD time a day while I prepare dinner and feed Mercy. We have Playschool, Spot, Postman Pat, Bananas in Pyjamas and Colin Buchanan. The Praise Baby DVD became our favourite because it imparts spiritual truth and is so relaxing for parents as well as the child! We get to listen to lovely worship music while Elnathan watches images of nature, babies, and children playing. Some songs are modern, others are old hymns. Best of all, Nate loves it! Occasionally he has been known to throw tantrums while saying "Praise Baby, no Praise Baby, no Praise Baby" because we wouldn't let him watch it when it was not DVD time. Sometimes we find him clapping and saying "God, God, God". It has helped me to reinforce the truth that God created Nate to praise Him, and that even babies are meant to praise God. I have purchased more of the DVDs for Elnathan (there are four in the series) and have also started to give them away to other parents. In Australia, you can pick up Praise Baby DVDs at Koorong.

We haven't tried Praise Baby yet, but some of the Christian music DVD's our little boys enjoy are the Precious Moments one's with scenery from England, and some of the Gaither concerts. Precious Moments are quite cheap-In Christ Alone-is the best one, and they help us get the boys asleep.
We also like some of the earlier Colin Buchanans- the one on Fraser Island, 10 9 8, and Live in the Big Tent.

Bless you
Claire

Me again! My husband likes to op-shop for quality videos for our twins to watch, while we homeschool the girls. He has picked up very cheaply many of the BBCs Beatrix Potter animations and The Wind in the Willows. The boys love these, and are now starting to take a bit of interest in our Beatrix Potter books, as they recognize the illustrations from the videos. Our sons haven't taken to books as our girls did at the same age- these videos are helping.

wonderful choice for toddlers! My own girls really liked the Bible Action (various sunday school songs, hymns, etc. with the Cedermont Kids) set of videos (they are 17 and 12 so dvd's weren't really a thing when they were toddlers!)....I also liked how just those simple songs incorporated the Scriptures and were also a "witness" to some extended family members who don't know the Savior....have fun with Praise Baby!!

Hello Claire,

Thanks for sharing the videos your family have enjoyed! I will keep my eye out for the DVDs you mention. I just borrowed Wind in the Willows from the library! Nate might be a bit young for it yet, but I am going to try it - I have fond memories of it from childhood, so I will enjoy it anyway! We don't have a video player, but I can see that it would be a great way to get them cheaply as lots of people only have DVD players now. It good to hear that visual media can also help develop interest in books.

Hi Faith,
Those videos sound great! I am sure to find more great resources as I become a more experienced Mum. God has provided for us so richly with tools for teaching His word! It is wonderful to hear that you also found the videos to be a witness.
